 Our Progress
What constitutes a fairtrade town or city?
There are five steps to becoming a fairtrade town or city as defined by the fairtrade foundation.

Step One - achieved 25th October 2005
The local council must pass a resolution supporting fairtrade and serve fairtrade tea and coffee at its meetings and in offices and canteens.

Step Two - achieved (see the Directory for details)
A range of fairtrade products are readily available in shops and served in local cafes and catering establishments.

Step Three - achieved (see the Directory for details)
Fairtrade products are used by a number of local work places ( estate agents, hairdressers, etc) and community organisations (churches, schools etc)

Step Four - achieved
Attract media coverage and popular support for the campaign.

Step Five - achieved
A local fairtrade steering group is convened to ensure continued commitment to its fairtrade town status.
